My own rule for my 10 in 10 project is that I have to cut my photos down to 10 frames that I take in 10 minutes. I’m not very good at following rules, so there are more than 10 photos here, but I couldn’t help it. Eliesa keeps me sane; she deserves way more than 10 for that.

I’ve talked about this with a couple of different people lately, but it seems as though our generation has missed out on some of the classic farm-to-table tricks. I thought I’d put some up here as I start doing them in my own apartment and I’m starting with the easiest one in the whole world: continually growing green onions.
I bought a bunch of organic green onions from the co-op about a month ago and after using them threw the white ends in a cup of water and put them on a window sill in my kitchen. The green part will keep growing (really quickly!) and you’ll never have to buy another bunch again. PLUS they’ll be fresh instead of wilted or slimy like they tend to get when kept in the fridge for too long.

side note: clearly I need to turn them more often.

This is mostly so I have a list of when I started which plants, but thought some other urban gardening peeps might be interested, too. I’ll update it as I continue to plant more this spring. I’ve transplanted a handful of tomatoes, brussel sprouts, and one ambitious pepper into some ‘pots’ that I made out of newspaper and they all seem to be very happy. Can’t wait to see how all of this turns out!
Has anyone else started yet?
