I can’t explain to you how much I love the Hoot. Brianna Lane hosted it a few weeks ago, and at the very beginning she said that the Hoot was her musical home. That’s exactly how I feel, and if I’m having a rough week (unfortunately there have been quite a few lately) I know that if I make it to Thursday all will be well.

Lately I’ve been telling people, and realizing more myself, that I 100% live for moments. It’s why I’m a photographer, and more specifically why I photograph live music and also portraits. I love capturing those fleeting moments, and archiving those epic moments that make up life. If I know I’m going to experience an incredible moment I’ll make it happen, regardless of whether or not I have the time/energy/money/etc.

So, here are a few of my favorite moments from this week’s Hoot:

[1] Michael Morris saying that he likes to go to the Swedish-American Institute because he’s proud of his Swedish heritage, but more importantly because he likes drinking coffee in a castle.

[2] Jim telling the kids that if they weren’t quiet he’d light their hair on fire.

[3] Jim then telling a story about how his dad lit a cat on fire and it ran up a barn. (WHAT?!)

[4] Graham singing a cover of Hallelujah (which he said was written by Jeff Buckley) video

[5] More so than even Graham’s cover of Hallelujah was everyone’s reaction to it. There was love all over that room, and magic when everyone joined in.

[6] Ashleigh Still singing Moonshine with her ridiculously adorable kids. video

[7] Stook! trying as hard as he could not to look at Alexa and I for fear of breaking out in uncontrollable laughter.

[8] Erin-Kate and Roger starting the Hoot with the California song. Perfect.
