seattle . explained

Laura and I posted this on BeeTour’s blog last night and I thought I’d take a second to explain and lay it all out there. That post has more views than anything we’ve ever posted. I told Laura last night that she should announce that she’s moving to Antarctica today and maybe we could drive some more traffic to the blog.

Sooo… here’s the scoop. Those of you that know me really well are probably not surprised at this at all. I’ve been talking about moving out west for years now, and have envisioned myself in Seattle since I can remember. It’s going to be hard to leave Minneapolis, but I think that now is the time to do it. I almost moved out west last year, but then I got an apartment that I really wanted and decided to stay. The past 6 months/year/2years have been really intense for me. A million personal and professional things have been thrown my way; some incredible and some just straight-up sucker punches.

I’m at a point in my life where it’s feasible to pick up and jet, so I’ve decided to jump on it while I can. Will this be forever? Who knows. Minneapolis has a giant chunk of my heart (ESPECIALLY the music community), but there’s that lingering “what if” that keeps pulling at me.

I’m excited about the possibility of being closer to the ocean, and mountains, and being able to shoot outside for the entire year instead of half of it. I think Seattle will fit my style of photography better (yes, even with the rain), and I’d be lying if I said this crazy Minnesota humidity is making me want to stay.:)

Seriously, though, aside from my family the music community is what’s kept me here for this long. I don’t know if there’s a place in the world that has this much talent and awesomeness in one city and it’s definitely weighing on me to think of being so far away from it. Maybe we can move the Hoot? Eh?

Also, it’d be incredible to be able to do shoots for as many people as possible before I leave. I love photography (obviously), and there are so many people in my life that I haven’t had the opportunity to capture moments for. I would lovelovelove to do that before I leave, so if you’re interested at all absolutely shoot me an email at sara@saramontour.com and let’s talk. Headshots/Kids/Families/Models/Musicians/Whateva. I want to shoot you (nicely), and I want to make you look like a gabajillion bucks. July is almost full, August is filling up fast, and September is the last full month I’m going to be here, so contact me ASAP. For galleries of my portraits check out BeeTour’s Site.

Also! I literally don’t know anyone in Seattle, so if you know some rad peeps, send them my way, and if you know of any great Seattle music definitely let me know about it.

EEK!
