Last night Jay and I were trying to figure out how long we’ve known each other. He claims it’s been 13 years, which is probably exactly right, but I’ll never admit to it because I refuse to believe that I’m old enough to say I’ve known someone for that long. (My impending birthday (THREE ZERO), has me in significant denial.)

What I will admit to is that I’ve known Jay and Jen for a long time and they’ve been some of my favorite people for years and years. They’ve rescued me when I’ve needed a place to stay, have cooked me delicious food, laughed for hours with me, provided me with worms for my worm compost (no, really), and have been consistently positive and uplifting souls in my life.

I’ve been photographing their family as it’s grown for the past couple of years. First was the exciting anticipation and arrival of Charlie:

Now, a couple years later, is the exciting anticipation of the second baby boy:

I can’t wait to meet (and photograph!) this newest addition that’s going to make an appearance any day now. After a crazy week in the world (and in the weather!) it’s nice to focus on the little things, and the people, that make life amazing.

I adore these three already and CAN NOT WAIT for there to be a little boy in the mix! Niles, Annie, and Eloise joined Laura Biebl and I for this fun snow day photo shoot. Laura and I use to have a portrait photography business in the Twin Cities called BeeTour before I moved to the west coast. It was so fun to photograph with her again and these guys were the PERFECT family to hang out with in the snow for a while.

The lovely miss Sydnee asked if I would come over and shoot some new headshots for her. I was already on board, but when she said she’d be baking cupcakes it was a done deal.

Sydnee just moved into this apartment and I’m so exciting for this step in her life; undoubtedly beautiful things to come and I can’t wait to see what life has in store for her.

Also to come: Sydnee’s actual headshots, but I thought I’d post these fun baking photos first.

Snow Day Photo Sessions!

I was driving around the other day as the sun was shining and it finally felt warm. I immediately got SO EXCITED for summer, and then as I looked around at all the gorgeous snow still covering our city, I got SO NOSTALGIC for winter and wanted to hold on to it for a little bit longer. Right away I called Laura Biebl and told her that we HAD to do photo shoots together before winter was gone. So, here we are! I’m so excited to announce that we’re teaming up for a full day of fun photo shoots in the snow. I do realize that it’s March in Minnesota and it’s very likely that our snow day will turn into a rain day, but we’re prepared to embrace it either way and create some beautiful, memorable photos!

Full 45 minute session with both Laura and Sara.

You get a $50 print credit in your gallery to spend on any prints + products + files you choose. You’ll also get high resolution digital files of Laura’s favorite photo and Sara’s favorite photo from the session to print as many times as you’d like, as big as you’d like, forever + ever.

Email Sara at sara@saramontour.com and she’ll let you know the available times! After that all you need to do is pay your $175 session fee to reserve your time and you’re all set!

Session fee is nonrefundable since there are a limited number of available times this day.

LIVE LETTERS of 2012

On May 10, 2012 I turned 29 and my present to myself was the launch of LIVE LETTERS, a project that I had been dreaming of for years. My world collapsed in 2011 and, as I always do, I turned to music. Not just music, but Minneapolis music, specifically. I moved 1,500 miles back to the place that feels most like home and I returned to my favorite place to get lost; in front of a stage, camera in hand, documenting musicians creating amazing art and doing what they absolutely love to do.

Nothing in 2012 has made my heart more full than LIVE LETTERS and to say I’m ecstatic for what 2013 has in store is a massive understatement. I can’t wait to open my home up some more to some incredibly talented musical souls and to their fans, friends, and music-lovers.
