I adore this family and have been wanting to photograph them for a long time, but all of us have been moving around a lot over the past few years. We’re finally in the same state and it’s so great to reconnect and watch them grow together as a family.

It ALSO happens to be little miss Ellie’s first birthday today! Happy Birthday, little lady; I adore you.

I feel like anything I say about these three will either be way too much or not nearly enough, so I’m just going to keep it (kind of) short. Within about 10 minutes of meeting Nick he became one of my best friends in life. For the past 6 months he’s been talking about his adorable twin girls and it was so fun to finally meet them and watch how they all connect and interact together. Tallulah is a super artistic and creative little spitfire, and Scarlet is a hilarious, kind, and caring soul. They both melted my heart at least a million times throughout the day and it’s easy to see why Nick completely lights up every time he talks about them.

We designed this shoot to be strictly lifestyle-based. Just hanging out and living life together; no posed shots and no saying cheese. This is generally how I approach a session anyway, catching the real moments in between the poses, but it was great to set this whole session up with that intention. I love that we spent time in their home, and at Nick’s practice space (with a quick stop at the Walker). Places where they live life day in and day out.

xx

I was getting this family’s images ready to send to them and realized that I hadn’t posted their session yet, which seems crazy. Carol + Clayton + Max + Owen were the last family that I was lucky enough to photograph in Tacoma before moving back to Minneapolis. Looking through their images has made me totally nostalgic and I’m tempted to jump in my car and drive west just so I can stand on the shore of the Puget Sound again.
