Jen and Josh live in Seattle and for months we’ve been trying to figure out how to connect and do their engagement session. The stars aligned and we managed to carve out some time on Christmas Eve while they were back in Minneapolis for the holidays.
Hanging out with people in their homes (or their sister’s homes, in this case!) is quickly turning into my favorite way to do a photo session. I love real life and involving people’s daily lives into their photographs as much as possible.
Jen and Josh, congratulations on your engagement! It was so great to finally spend some time with you guys and your hilarious pups; give Seattle a giant hug for me!

I’ve been doing little 10 minute shoots lately and I’m loving it.
10 frames in 10 minutes:

I feel like anything I say about these three will either be way too much or not nearly enough, so I’m just going to keep it (kind of) short. Within about 10 minutes of meeting Nick he became one of my best friends in life. For the past 6 months he’s been talking about his adorable twin girls and it was so fun to finally meet them and watch how they all connect and interact together. Tallulah is a super artistic and creative little spitfire, and Scarlet is a hilarious, kind, and caring soul. They both melted my heart at least a million times throughout the day and it’s easy to see why Nick completely lights up every time he talks about them.
We designed this shoot to be strictly lifestyle-based. Just hanging out and living life together; no posed shots and no saying cheese. This is generally how I approach a session anyway, catching the real moments in between the poses, but it was great to set this whole session up with that intention. I love that we spent time in their home, and at Nick’s practice space (with a quick stop at the Walker). Places where they live life day in and day out.
xx

This moment kills me (in all the best ways).

Tallulah sat on my lap and helped me snap this one & I love it:
